Car Not Accelerating

It's normal to experience issues with your car from time to time as you travel for work or run errands around town. At some point, you may notice the engine doesn't want to accelerate, which can make it challenging to drive at a higher speed. If you're curious why this type of mechanic issue is occurring, there are a few main reasons your car may not accelerate and what you can do to remedy the problem.

1. Dirty Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAF) or Oxygen Sensor

The mass airflow sensor can accumulate dirt over time, making it difficult to monitor the car's operation. Your fuel mileage and acceleration will both be affected. Fortunately, a professional mechanic can clean the sensor, but you'll need to have the part replaced if the issue is with the oxygen sensor. Both sensors can cause your Check Engine light to illuminate, which requires scheduling an appointment at our service center to ensure it can get properly diagnosed and repaired by a qualified expert.

2. Malfunctioning Throttle Position Sensor (TPS)

If the computer in your car's engine can't read the Throttle Position Sensor, it will prevent the car from operating correctly. You may notice a lack of performance from the vehicle as incorrect information is sent to the vehicle. A mechanic will perform the necessary repairs to restore its operation.

3. Clogged Fuel Filter

The fuel filter is one of the most critical parts of the vehicle designed to filter out debris and dirt. The car can begin to slow down and won't accelerate as easily when too many impurities accumulate. This requires replacing the fuel filter to restore the car's acceleration.

4. Dirty Air Filters

The air filter is another important component that doesn't allow the car to accelerate if you forget to replace it at the right time. The owner's manual that came with your car will tell you how often the filter needs to be replaced, which will immediately allow your car to begin accelerating again.

Feel free to call or visit our dealership at your convenience to ensure your car starts to accelerate and begins to drive better. Our friendly team is here to help diagnose the issue to ensure the necessary repairs are performed on your set of wheels.
