What's New For the 2020 Nissan Altima?

Already making history as being the first Altima model with available all-wheel drive in the 2019 model year, the sixth-generation Nissan Altima continues its run with the 2020 version. The full suite of driver assistance is now standard on all trims save for the base-level model, among other additions or extensions. And the all-wheel drive option remains for those who favor maximum tire grip.

2020 Altima Trims and Features

The 2020 Nissan Altima, which is designed as a four-door midsize sedan, is broken down into five trim levels, which are S, SR, SV, SL, and Platinum. At the base level, the Altima gets features such as an 8-way power driver seat, smart key system with push-button ignition, remote engine start, smartphone integration via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Siri Eyes Free, hands-free text messaging, Bluetooth, the Advanced Drive-Assist Display, six-speaker audio, four USB ports and an audio jack, a three-month SiriusXM Radio subscription, and NissanConnect infotainment integration with an 8-inch touchscreen. The SR is the only trim with sport cloth seats, and this level and up welcomes leather wrapping on the steering wheel. At the SV level, the Altima is upgraded with features such as driver-side power lumbar support, front-seat and steering-wheel heating, dual-zone automatic temperature control, intelligent climate control, auto-dimming ability on the rearview mirror, and a garage-door opener. Four-way power on the front passenger seat, leather upholstery, a navigation system with voice recognition, and HD Radio technology debut on the SL trim. And the Platinum is the only model with a driver-side memory system and a nine-speaker Bose premium audio system.

2020 Nissan Altima Horsepower

2020 Nissan AltimaThe standard engine on the 2020 Altima is a 2.5-liter inline 4-cylinder engine (I4). With the standard front-wheel drivetrain, it produces 188 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque; and with the optional all-wheel drive, it produces 182 horsepower and 178 lb-ft of torque. On the SR and Platinum trims, you have the option of going with a variable compression turbocharged 2.0-liter I4 instead (thus the name "VC-TURBO"). Although it provides more output than the 2.5-liter I4-at up to 248 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque-it is only available with front-wheel drive.

Nissan Altima Safety

2020 Nissan AltimaFor safety, the 2020 Altima starts off with features such as an eight-airbag system, vehicle dynamic control with traction control, hill start assist, rear door alert, four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes with electronic brake force distribution and brake assist, a rearview mirror, cruise control, intelligent forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, active ride control, intelligent trace control, intelligent driver alertness, and a theft-deterrent system. On the SR, Nissan adds pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, blind spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, a rear sonar system, rear automatic braking, and high beam assist. ProPILOT Assist technology, automatic brake hold, and intelligent lane intervention (in place of lane departure warning) appear on the SV.
