Federal EV Tax Credit

What Should You Know About the EV Tax Credit at Peoria Nissan?

The federal Clean Vehicle Credit gives eligible buyers up to $7,500 back when purchasing a qualifying electric vehicle. This program ends September 30, 2025, unless extended. There’s also a separate home EV charger credit available through June 30, 2026 for those who install charging equipment.

How Is the $7,500 Credit Amount Determined?

It’s split into two parts:

  • $3,750 for meeting specific battery component sourcing rules
  • $3,750 for meeting critical mineral sourcing requirements

Some vehicles qualify for only a portion of the total based on where parts come from and how the car is built.

What Does a Nissan EV Need to Qualify?

To be eligible for the Clean Vehicle Credit, the vehicle must:

  • Be brand new
  • Be assembled in North America
  • Have a battery capacity of at least 7 kWh
  • Be made by a qualified manufacturer
  • Stay under the MSRP cap: $80,000 for SUVs, vans, and trucks; $55,000 for other vehicles
  • Be part of a sale reported to the IRS
  • Be purchased by a buyer within the federal income limits

Why Should You Act Soon at Peoria Nissan?

Once the Clean Vehicle Credit ends, it’s unclear whether it will return. If you're thinking about an EV, now is the time to lock in this benefit. The program could make a major difference in your total cost—and it’s winding down.
