If you've ever wondered what a Nissan LEAF/Frontier mashup would look like, here's your chance to find out. At Nissan's Technical Center in Stanfield, Ariz., a one-of-a-kind truck created from a LEAF and Frontier model can be seen buzzing around the grounds thanks to a group of engineers who decided to build the car as a group project. Playfully dubbed "Sparky," the electric car is used to transport items throughout the campus, simplifying the hauling process for the center's engineers - and creating a fun way to do it.
Spearheaded by Arnold Moulinet and Roland Schellenberg, the LEAF/Frontier project took months to make before it was ultimately completed. Early on, the pair knew they wanted to use a LEAF as the main car, but it took them a little longer to decide which truck bed to use. An array of pickup truck designs were examined by both before they wound up settling on the Frontier's bed. Once they made their decision, they moved forward with the truck's creation and eventually unveiled it to the center's employees.
A conversation starter, Sparky is the only truck of its kind and can be found exclusively at Nissan's Technical Center in Stanfield, Ariz. However, if you want to check out a standard LEAF, you can stop by Peoria Nissan to view the 2015 Nissan LEAF in stock now.
