Nissan's most popular models, the Sentra and Altima, are finally getting the styling upgrades they rightly deserve. The official confirmation recently came straight from the company's design guru, Shiro Nakamura, who spoke about the exterior enhancements at the Paris Motor Show. He revealed the Sentra would be given a much more European design, while the Altima will take cues from the Murano crossover. Each variant is expected to debut its new updates when the upcoming mid-cycle refresh kicks into gear between 2016 and 2017.

As of today, the Nissan Sentra maintains a conservative look, but when its design overhaul is concluded, it will be introduced with new Euro styling. There's no telling exactly what the model will look like when it's unveiled, but there's talk it could slightly resemble Nissan's European compact car, the Pulsar. Unlike the Sentra, the Altima will not acquire a European design; it will go in the same direction as the Murano crossover instead. The full-size sedan will show off a more aggressive look and also don certain elements found on the Sports Sedan Concept, giving it a futuristic flair that will broaden its appeal.

While the Sentra and Altima are expected to debut their new designs during the 2016/17 model year, they won't feature all of the changes until the next-generation models go into production.
