If you or someone you know is over the age of 60, disabled or a veteran who owns a one-story home in need of exterior painting, you can apply for free fall maintenance through the Rock & Roll Paint-A-Thon program managed by Rebuilding Together, a Valley-based nonprofit that's been revitalizing neighborhoods throughout the metro area since 1991. Applications are not only accepted from homeowners, but also from relatives, friends, caregivers and social workers who know someone in need. Rebuilding Together is also looking for volunteers to assist with the next round of house paintings that will take place on Oct. 25, 2014.
Click here to apply to have a home painted during the organization's upcoming fall house-painting marathon. Or, if you would like to lend a helping hand, click the following links for information about how to volunteer as an individual or volunteer as a group (teams must consist of 15 to 25 people). You may also call (480) 774-0237 for more details.
If you are applying for service, applications are due by Sept. 5. The home being submitted for review must be in sufficient condition; spot priming and scraping should be the only prep work needed to paint the home. Volunteer teams must also submit applications by Sept. 5. In addition, all volunteers - individual or in groups - must be at least 14 years old to participate and persons under the age of 18 are required to have a parent-permission form filled out.
