Nissan has transformed the virtual into reality with Concept 2020 Vision Gran Turismo, a supercar which debuted for the first time at the four-day Goodwood Festival of Speed. As one of the most celebrated car and racing shows in the world, it was the perfect place for Nissan to unveil the 4D incarnation of its eye-catching video game concept.
Many car enthusiasts and industry experts suspect that the stunning design of Concept 2020 may lead to Nissan's next-generation of performance styling, which we certainly wouldn't mind. For now, however, the car will be featured in its original virtual form in the game Gran Turismo 6. The concept will also play a key role in Nissan's GT Academy, an online program where aspiring racecar drivers go to prove themselves on the virtual field and compete for opportunities to train in real life. One of the Academy's most famous graduates, NISMO driver Jann Mardenborough, was at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and talked a bit about Nissan's concept.
"It's been designed virtually. And we've got the real car here as a concept car. So, it's kind of like my story of GT Academy, coming from the virtual world into the real-life racing world," he said. Mardenborough also noted, "I still train on Gran Turismo ... It's still a crucial part of my development as a driver."
