Last month, when a flatbed truck was spotted carrying a giant cardboard box from Amazon, it didn't take long before a photo surfaced on Reddit and spawned a flurry of speculations about the box's contents. Shortly after, Nissan confirmed exactly what was inside.
After a promo link for the Nissan Versa Note showed up on Amazon's website last fall, rumors started floating around that the online retailer was taking a crack at the auto sales business. The link didn't actually enable people to purchase a vehicle online, but instead hooked them up with local car dealerships. However, in an earlier part of the Versa Note promotion, in which customers also received a $1,000 Amazon gift card, there were three cars that had been purchased online.
Fast forward a few months later and sightings of a giant Amazon box started to appear on social sites, and the news even made its way to the Huffington Post. When the box was first spotted, many thought it was a publicity stunt, but Nissan confirmed that a Versa Note was indeed being delivered from Amazon to a paying customer.
